Get ready for your wedding make-up session!

Every bride-to-be knows that wedding make-up sessions are something that shouldn’t be overlooked, because that’s what counts in getting a final picture of the chosen wedding style. But what are the secrets to look gorgeous even when the sun shines at midday? We asked our make-up artist Zaira Fontaneto to tell us something about this very important appointment in a bride’s wedding planning schedule and she underlined for us what the key steps are.

“The first thing I ask my bride clients” explains Zaira, “is if she has chosen the dress yet, because her global look should have a harmony of shades, colors, shapes and textures that is greatly determined by the dress itself”. A first appointment is usually fixed in the middle of the day because, she highlights, “it is so important to have very good lighting conditions to make sure no detail goes unchecked”. Secondly, “I usually ask my client to collect a few inspirations for her wedding day. Photos are a very good way to understand each other precisely and quickly. I would then advice her about what can give the best results depending on her face shape and on her skin tone”.

Practice some good skincare before you reach your appointment: “A peeling mask the night before meeting would give best results”, says Zaira “because the skin would look brighter”. Here’s something fun, too: remember to let your eyebrows grow wild three weeks before meeting, “So that your make-up artist can model them with the shape you actually need for your style”.

How can we recognize if we are working with a good make-up artist? Once you’ve agreed the make-up style you wish, a good professional would fill in a “make-up checklist” and sketch some notes: this way every single detail can be precisely reproduced the morning of your special day with the same, identical result. Good luck with your research!
