Find the gown you love: our interview to Unveiled Philadelphia
A big, exclusive trunk show is being prepared in Philly in these hours. We got excited with Frannie Erace, event coordinator and manager at Unveiled Philadelphia. Frannie is a decorator with more than 30 years’ experience in the wedding business. She has combined the runways and bridal markets to bring magnificent gowns and exclusive international designers to her salon. She shared a bit of her excitement with us today, and she told us about her expectations: “I truly hope the girls will go crazy as we do about the dresses. There are going to be many gorgeous gowns, which speak for themselves. I think once they see them on their body, they will understand why we are so excited about the line we are presenting”. We expect the girls to get excited anyway: there is going to be a 10% off on the gowns during the trunk show, Frannie told us!
“I always advice my brides-to-be clients to come in with an open mind” says Frannie. “Most girls think they already know exactly what they want. Maybe a 20% are correct in knowing what they want and in getting it, but the other 80% absolutely do not and most of the time, when they come in, they realize it’s quite the opposite of what they think they want”. So having no clue may be a good thing in a way, when taking part to this sort of event: instinct and gut feelings are often better guides than presupposition, aren’t they?
Indeed, “brides tend to put too much thought on what other people think, as opposed to what they love” confesses Frannie: “I once had a bride who came in with her mother; she loved a particular dress but when her mom saw it, she totally discouraged her. Eventually the girl didn’t get the dress and her mother’s behavior was not necessarily age wise. So what we suggest to every girl that comes in is to relax, enjoy the experience and find something that they really love: if they do love it, they need to get it, regardless of what their beloved ones think”.
Sometimes the dresses are great to admire, but fit could actually be an issue: the girls need to wear something that lets them express their personality, but that would also let them feel comfortable. Wearability may be one of the main differences between the European and the American market, claims Frannie: “At the beginning, Italian designs (and European ones) had looks that girls here would love to look at, but which, at the same time, wouldn’t like to put on their body. Generally speaking, we’re probably not getting the high end, over the top Italian designs here in the US, as many designers are creating special collections for the US market. Though this seems to work fine anyway: American girls here are looking for gowns that they would love to admire, but that are still very wearable”.
Among the designers in the front row at Unveiled Philadelphia and in this trunk show, there is Elisabetta Polignano, and her brand new collection Privée 2016. “We chose to be unique and to offer types of experiences that our brides to be clients couldn’t find anywhere else. We also wanted to make sure we offered very exclusive and unique gowns in our area. When I saw Elisabetta’s gowns I was amazed: just looking at their uniqueness and the way the dresses flow on the body literally blew me away. My colleague still remembers it didn’t really took me long to place the order of her gowns” Frannie told us.
Our wishes of best luck to Frannie and to the whole team at Unveiled Philadelphia for their event! Follow us on our social media channels for further updates.
