Your first steps towards your yes: our tips to choose your wedding date

The choice of the wedding date is one of the sweetest things you can share with your partner: it could be a special date, which you are already both keen on, maybe connected with one of your favorite memories; it could be more formal, like the day of your engagement, or the day you met; it could also be more practical, like the date when your wedding location is officially free.

It may sound fun, but remember there are also few no-way days. To begin with, leave apart those that are linked with bank holidays or religious ceremonies, especially those connected with fastings. Avoid all those big sports events days, long weekends, daylight saving Sundays and, if you’re superstitious, all the dates whose numbers are said to bring the worst of luck!

And what if you wanted to base your choice on astrological reasons? If you’re keen on that, go ahead! Tradition wants that waxing moon days are the best to choose for any type of activity we love or care about. The best would be the first seven days after the new moon. In New York City, they would be the seven days after Septbember 13h, October 12th, November 11th and December 11th. Remember to check your city dates on your calendar!

Weekends are not a must and are normally quite crowded days for restaurants or after-party locations: you may want to try and leave them out of your date wishlist. Apart from these few tips, don’t be too restrictive: it’s your magic choice, enjoy it! Right after you pick your date you can start to leave your dream.
