The fabulous Fifties
“The most poignant moment was to see him standing in front of the altar. I really have no clue how I could not burst into tears. I knew I wanted no one else but him. And my dad taking me to him was absolutely the most touching moment”. These are Valentina’s words about her wedding: she married Stefano last October 4th. The ceremony was held in the church Assunzione di Maria Vergine at Fubine. For the following celebration, the couple chose the enchantment of the Redabue Castel, in the area of Alessandria.
“The preparations were amazing” – says the bride – “I loved the creative moments and the curation of all details. We wanted to give a vintage touch to our wedding, because we both love American swing, vintage cars and that Fifties’ style”. Talking about vintage cars, the couple chose a 1972’s Camaro and drove it after their “I do”. A surprise gift from Valentina’s spouse was also a vintage English cab, on which she arrived before the celebration.
Valentina chose a wedding dress signed by Elisabetta Polignano: “I must have tried at least fifty dresses – she laughs – “but I had no doubt: Elisabetta could understand my rock’n’roll soul with a slight romantic touch”. Her dress was white, with a wide tulle skirt, short train and bolero, and a short veil too. The corsage was very romantic instead, and it was decorated with tiny little roses. Her hair was up with a chignon and a long braid (a “banana hairstyle”, they said). The bouquet choice was extremely accurate too: it was inspired to the Fifties weddings and featured little white flowers, antique pink baby roses and the same decorative lace they used all around in the ornaments.
“I loved that day!”. Valentina couldn’t believe the intensity of her own emotions, since when Stefano proposed to her. The proposal happened in Assisi, by the way, in front of the Basilica on October 4th 2013, exactly one year before the wedding. “He bended down on his knees and he uttered that question. Like an old school gentleman, you know. I didn’t expect that and my heart bursted out with joy”.
