Lara and Filippo’s… bat-wedding!

Lara and Filippo’s wedding story seems truly romantic from the very first start. Thing is, you can be romantic without giving up being terribly fun: you’ll soon see why we named their story… a bat-wedding!

“The night before we married, Filippo came to my place with his musician friends: they played “Lara’s theme” from Doctor Zhivago under my window and “You’re my sunshine” right after that. They played the same songs the day after, when we left the church and when we entered the restaurant. Their band’s name is Canavesian Ensemble, Filippo plays with them”. The bride’s point of view gives an idea of her dazzling emotions: “It rained all morning through, but suddenly the sun popped out from the clouds: some of my guests told me that a ray gracefully showered us with its light from a tiny window in the exact moment when we exchanged our vows”. Their wedding arrived after nine years of engagement, on July 26th 2014: “We decided to get married on our ninth anniversary. The preparations lasted five months and we managed to do everything without becoming crazily stressed out. We desired and pictured our wedding day in our minds so neatly for nine years, and we lived it the way we wanted: a moment when we could celebrate the strength of our love and the deep connection that unites the two of us”. The ceremony in San Giorgio Canavese (in the area of Turin, Italy) was held in the little Sanctuary of Misobolo: “the same where our parents got married”. The after party was celebrated in a restaurant on Lake Candia: “We didn’t want to celebrate too rigidly and since the seaside is quite far… At least we opted for a lake shore!”, she jokes. The theme of the entire after party was definitely original and a whole loads of fun for everyone (you’ve guessed it): “Well, let’s say that Batman signs and icons were placed, like, everywhere” says Lara with a smile, “this is the only hero my husband devotedly loves. He even would’ve wanted to print the invitations with the shape of a bat… I guess I’ve stopped him in time!”. Anyway, we can seriously talk about a bat-wedding, here: the couple had some amazing bat-cake toppers ordered from the UK, while the invitations were vinyl shaped, as a homage to Filippo, who teaches music. The tableau was filled with names of characters from Batman, instead!

The predominant colors of the decorations were lilac and lavender, their favorite flower, which also abounded on the bride’s bouquet together with fantastic white roses, green tiny daisies and jasmine from Madagascar. Lara’s dress, was by Elisabetta Polignano: “After I tried many different gowns, I found my dream wedding dress for last: as I wore it my mind was blown by that lace… My mom started crying when she saw me and I understood immediately it was the right one!”. The gown was white, the corsage decorated with embroidered daisies and enriched with a green band and a big ribbon. “Maybe this dress was tailor made for me, who knows… Everybody noticed the fit! I felt like a princess. I paired it with my mother’s pair of daisy shaped earrings in white gold. Like that, it truly felt mine”.
