Hydrangeas and gemstones: Monica and Luca’s wedding story

“He’s my light. I couldn’t have married anyone else!”. These are Monica’s first thoughts when she thinks about her husband Luca, and how excited she felt when he reached her at the aisle, last June 1st. This is how her wedding story begins:“We’ve been together for almost ten years and we really wanted our wedding to be a great event, a very special day for our relatives and beloved ones”. The religious ceremony was deeply felt by everyone and celebrated in a Sanctuary in the area of Novara, Piedmont. “We dedicated so much effort to the ceremony’s booklet. The priest, Don Francesco, was also the one who married my parents”, says the bride.

To make things even more magical and emotional, the sound of the organ accompanied by the stunning voice of a professional tenor. “We were all profoundly moved when we listened to his performance of Gounod’s Ave Maria. Our bestmen and relatives all got close to us, in deep emotion”.

Silver and white where the dominant colors of the celebration, while hydrangeas were the chosen flowers for the decorations both in the church and in the celebration’s location, the Hotel Splendid in Baveno, a little village near Lake Maggiore. “We didn’t really have a theme for our wedding, we wanted to make a very classical and elegant wedding, respecting traditions and curating every detail by ourselves”. The invitations were sealed with personalized sealing wax and the tableau de mariage’s main theme was precious metals and stones. “For our table we chose diamonds, the eternal gems”, explains Monica.

Monica chose an Elisabetta Polignano’s wedding gown for her unique day: “I really knew what I didn’t want, but I didn’t have any clear idea of what I wanted. I tried some random gowns in her atelier and didn’t feel inspired, so Elisabetta asked me if she could suggest me a dress to try. I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it! It was perfect and it felt so authentic and right for me”. The dress was white, in jacquard silk, with a geometric embroidery for a touch of modern. Monica added an elegant shrug and a long veil with satin inserts. For her hairstyle she chose a half-up hairdo with a little comb decorated with crystals and pearls which was given to her by her mother: “It was so important for me to wear it”, says Monica, “because my mom wore it on her wedding day as well”.

The couple flew to Cuba for their honeymoon: “We met incredibly whole-hearted people that made us realize how kindness always comes first in human kind”.
