Elisabetta Polignano remembers her wedding day
She doesn’t only design dresses to make women dream, she has lived the dream herself. Elisabetta Polignano met the love of her life on the landing of her house in Novara, Piemonte. “Dario was my neighbor’s friend: they played together in a band” the stylist remembers. She and Dario – today he is the brand’s General Manager – got married in 2001, after seven beautiful years together.
The ceremony was held in Puglia, the Italian region where Elisabetta was born and raised. They chose “a little white church that we decorated with sunflowers, so to keep its simplicity!” she says. As for the wedding reception, the couple chose a splendid villa with an immense garden. “We engaged a dee-jay who was our friend. He played all the music we love: rock, 70s disco dance and – of course – tarante and pizziche (Italian folk dance music)!”.
“I made my wedding dress myself” Elisabetta reveals, “in silk taffeta, with a balloon skirt, draped tulle corset, three flounces with chantilly lace”. She used a silk tulle stole in daylight and then one in taffeta by night. Rock crystals and braids for her hairdo, white roses simply tied together with tulle for the bouquet. Their love was celebrated with joy, shared with their dearest ones. “We danced a lot: the food was delicious, even if we didn’t eat anything because we were so busy!”.
