Bridesmaids, pageboys and bestmen: what about them?

Your special day will be unforgettable also thanks to your beloved ones. Have you already thought of what roles some of them should have? Best men and best women usually own a legal and an affective value. The former means that they are there to assist you with the wedding bureaucracy and witness your legal union. The latter should have a deeper meaning: these fellows are there to silently witness that your union is heartfelt and that it remains such – until it lasts, of course.

Playful roles are given to more individuals during Italian weddings: ‘first bridesmaids‘ are the ones who organize the hens party, as well as give a helpful hand to the bride during the wedding preparations: she should support her in the choice of the dress, she opens the wedding march towards and out of the church (usually in catholic weddings), and coordinates the other bridesmaids and the pageboys.  Talking about pageboys, they should be chosen by the groom and the first one should be the one in charge of the bachelor party.

In Italy, pageboys and bridesmaids are usually little kids, found among the nephews, nieces and children of relatives and friends. They usually throw flowers from tiny baskets, they deliver the rings to the couple and they close the wedding march in and out of the church in case of catholic weddings. The brides are the ones who usually think about pageboys and bridesmaids’ dresses: remember to choose them accordingly with your wedding colors and theme!
