All that jazz: Alessia and Davide’s wedding story

Here’s the story of a great love, begun 15 years ago, and the wedding story of a dream that came true three years ago on May 20th. That day, Alessia and Davide told their “I do” to each other: “The choice of getting married was made together, after 12 years of engagement”, she tells us, still really excited, “but I was definitely not expecting the proposal: I know my man! He made me cry tears of joy for a whole day”. He wrote his proposal in a love letter, which was her special treat inside an Easter surprise egg.

The wedding was celebrated after one year of preparations (“with no stress!” – she says) in the church of Saint Vincenzo and Anastasio in Rignano Flaminio, near Rome, Italy. Relatives and friends have been welcomed in Villa Ceccucci in Morlupo: “It was the first and only location we had visited”, explains Alessia, “we immediately fell in love with it!”. The couple chose lilac as the dominant color of the decorations, which were also very rich and flowery in the church: the guests could admire compositions of white and lilac roses, whose petals were also the main decorations of the carpet that led to the altar. Among the funny stories Alessia told us about her special day, she remembered the moment when she entered the church: “I was afraid that the underskirt was undid, so I had my sister and my best friend sneaking under my dress to check if everything was alright!”.

Alessia is a musician and lots of dedication was given to the choice of the wedding’s soundtrack: from Pink Floyd, to Kirk Franklin, from Ennio Morricone to Metallica’s hit “Nothing else matters”, their favorite song. The tableau was inspired by popular jazz names such as Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, which is also the couple they used to match their own dining table. Wedding favours were various and Alessia’s mother even crocheted several doilies with lilac flowers, which the bride gave to her friends.

As for the styling goes, Alessia chose a half-up hairdo and a round bouquet with white roses. With the wedding gown, she made one of her dreams come true: “I was dreaming of a particular kind of wedding dress and I found it thanks to Elisabetta Polignano: I didn’t know her, but I immediately fell in love with my dress as soon as I saw it”, she says. “It was simple and yet precious, with tiny wrinkles on the corsage, a long train, a beautiful veil and roses that fell on the back side, where the dress opens. White and with the softest silk, it’s such a shame to wear it only once!”.
